WaLa- Urban Street Food in Detroit

WaLa- which is named for being on the corner of Washington and Lafayette- is know for its urban street food, which includes mainly sandwiches. The most praised dish may be their gyro, with thier homemade tzatziki sauce. They have a variety of yummy sandwiches with crazy names like Hot Money, Sassy Lizzie, and Flying Pig. The burgers are amazing and the fries are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and so good all around. The small, cinderblock structure only fits a few tables inside, but you can still eat outside on their gorgeous patio which is decorated with a bright and colorful mural. Mixed with the music played, WaLa is a great place to grab a cheap (but good) lunch with an upbeat yet relaxed vibe.
